Past Aquaintances :-)

Gael, if you’re out there still reading, I really appreciate the note.  I would still like to talk to you off the blog if you’re willing.  It’s just nice to still have points of contact after all these years.  You wouldn’t recognize me by my pen name, so I can better refresh your memory privately.  We were both considering moving to that area at that time though, and your father even took us to look at a house that was in great need of fixing up.  lol  It’s so nice to see your name, but please feel free to contact me at  I set that email up so you’d have one to reach me at.  Thanks for popping in.

  1. Long ago, I was friends with a very talented very Traditional Cherokee Artist named Dean Cheek. He was living in Northern California (Cotati) in the mid1970s. He mostly painted to support himself, but he also was a carver among other gifts. He taught me so many things….His name, age and talent sounds about right. Same person?

    • It’s possible. I never saw Dean paint, other than what he put on the dolls he carved but I don’t know that he didn’t. His daughter ended up in NorCal after I met her, so there may be a connection to that region.
